Dean's List
Academic Scholarship

An academic scholarship is awarded to any graduate with distinctions: valedictorian, salutatorian or with honorable mention from any DepEd-recognized public or private high school in the Philppines; i.e. the applicant for scholarship must not have enrolled in any collegiate prior to enrollment at STI.

Conditions for the Academic Scholarship

To qualify, the applicant must:

  • Belong to a graduating class composed of 100 or more students as attested to by the school's principal in an official document.
  • Possess good moral character and not have any record of the misconduct in the school he/she last attended as evidence by his/ her Certificate of Good Moral and Right conduct duly signed by the school's Guidance Counselor or Principal.

The Registrar shall certify the recipient of the academic scholarship after reviewing the student's certification from the Principal of the secondary school where he/she comes from. The list is given to the Honors and Awards Committee for review during the term.

The tuition discounts given to an academic scholar on his/her first of enrollment at STI are:

  • Valedictorian - 100% discount on tuition
  • Salutatorian - 50% discount on tuition
  • Honorable Mention - 25% discount on tuition
Merit Scholarhip

Merit scholarship is awarded to academic scholars after their first day of attendance if thy maintain a General Weighted Avearge (GWA) of 1.5 or higher.

Merit scholars will continue to enjoy the scholarship on a term basis program if they maintain the required GWA. Should they lose the scholarship they will no longer qualify for the scholarship even they obtain the required GWA.

Discount on tuition for the succeeding regular term enrolled depends on the GWA of the immediately preceding term:

GWA 1.50 - 1.31 1.30 - 1.11 1.10 - 1.00
Discount 25% 50% 100%

The tuition discount covers the lecture and laboratory charges for all courses enrolled within a term.

Dean's Honors List

STI College recognizes the superior scholastic achievement of any student in semestral programs of two (2) years or longer (e.g. Associate, Bachelors Degree), at the end of every regular term of each school year through the Dean's Honors List.

Conditions for Inclusion in the Dean's Honors List

The recipient should:

  • Be officially enrolled during the term for which honors are to be earned.
  • Be enrolled in and passed all the previous and current regular load of academic units specified in the curriculum (including P.E and NSTP units).
  • Have a GWA of 1.50 or better including P.E if required for the regular term.
  • Have no failing grade in any academic course.
  • have no dropped (DRP) course during the term of evaluation.
  • have no course still to be completed (INC) during the term of evaluation.
  • not have been found guilty of any minor or major offense (especially cheating during examination) throughout the student's residency at STI.

A student included in the Dean's Honors List will be awarded a Certificate of Academic Proficiency for a particular term.

In addition, a certain discount on tuition for the succeeding regular term enrolled may be given depending on the GWA of the immediately preceding term:

Distinction Awards

In consideration of the meritorious performance of a student during the previous academic year, the following awards are given during awarding ceremonies:

Leadership Award
  • The student should have actively participated in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in STI, displayed leadership qualities at work, and dealt with members of the community in an outstanding manner.
Recognition Award
  • The student should have brought honor to STI through successful participation in competitions and activities outside the school.
  • Upon the recommendation of the Academic Head, the President shall confer the awards on the recipients during the start of every academic year and during graduation.

All graduation awards have to be validated by STI Headquarters (Student Services Department).
